Checking the Status of a Social Security Application

April is National Social Security Month, and our goal is to educate you about Social Security programs and services available online.
Today’s blog post will provide some information on checking the status of your Social Security application using your online my Social Security account.
If you applied for either Social Security Disability Insurance benefits or Supplemental Security Income benefits, or if you have a pending reconsideration or hearing request, you can log into your my Social Security account to check the status of your application.
Once logged in, your application status should show:
  • Your re-entry number for an online benefit application or online appeal that has not been submitted;
  • The date Social Security Administration received your application or appeal;
  • Scheduled hearing date and time;
  • Current claim or appeal location, including the address of the office processing your application; and
  • If a decision has been made.
